A gift for the big boss

Today we posted off a gift for Neve, the daughter of Jacinda Ardern. We wrote letters to the Prime Minister telling her about the Opawaho river we have been focussing on this term, and all the ways we think we could help our environment.

We look forward to hearing back from her next term!

Huriawa - the bend in the river

This term the whole school are collaborating to create a huge piece of art for the Hall. The theme is "the bend in the river", based on our school's name Te kura o Huriawa Thorringon.

Some of us made paper mache birds today - here's a sneak peak of them in the beginning stages...

Our Community

Turangawaewae - the place where we stand. Our Community

HB 9 looked at Geometry this term. We learned that Geometry is the study of the size, shapes and positions of things.

We thought it would be lots of fun to collaborate and make a 3D diorama of our local community. We started on this project today, and look how much we achieved together! We will work as a team and complete it tomorrow:

The Port Hills, Te Kura Huriawa Thorrington and the Ōpawahō river and Donkey track are central to our Turangawaewae, so we’ve centred everything around these landmarks.

Here's a few behind-the-scenes pics of the team bursting with creativity:

We hope you make it into HB 9 to visit our community!
